My DVC II senior showcase project, “ReCarnation,” was featured in CNVRGE: A Speculative Collection. Throughout the semester, my fellow senior designers and I ideated, researched, reflected, crafted, and designed our own speculative worlds each built around a personal “what if” question, lens, and narrative.

My project “ReCarnation” centers around this question: “What if a future viral outbreak among animals contaminated all meat and dairy, forcing society to go vegan and end all animal farming?“ Five years later, the planet is healing, and people are healthier, but now a pill lets you eat animal products again. Would you take the pill or stay vegan for the sake of the environment?

ReCarnation explores humanity’s relationship with nature, control, and consumption through the lens of climate recovery and renewal. How might society respond if science and the government offered a way to “restore” what nature had already healed?

My project featured an interactive timeline and a poll inviting viewers to reflect on this possible future. Would they take the pill? Participants wrote their answers and placed them into the corresponding jar.

Supporting posters, personas, an artifact, and research-based facts were also included. All plants, animals, and accessories were thoughtfully collected and used to bring this world to life.
